From the October-December issue of Thailand Post Stamp Catalogue:

120th Anniversary of the Royal Grandmother’s Birthday

Her Royal Highness Princess Srinagarindra, as affectionately called “the Royal Grandmother”, dedicated her time to work on royal duties including a visit to hill tribe villagers inhabiting the wilderness areas on a helicopter ride in order to provide them with important aids.  Her Royal Highness was reminiscent of a heavenly figure who helped improve their livelihood.  Therefore, she was praised by hill tribe people as the “Heavenly Royal Mother or Mae Fah Luang”.  Her Royal Highness established the Mae Fah Luang Foundation under his Royal Patronage to raise the life quality of people living in remote areas through the development of their healthcare, education and career.  The foundation’s ultimate goal is beyond protecting the existence and survival of hill tribe people, but it also includes the assurance that they are self-reliant and able to live in a sustatinable society.

To celebrate the 120th anniversary of Her Royal Highness Princess Srinagarindra’s birthday on October 21, 2020, Thailand Post will release a commemorative stamp collection in remembrance of Her Royal Highness for her benevolence to implement royal activities in contribution to the welfare of Thai people.  The photograph used as a design of this collection was given by courtesy of the Mae Fah Luang Foundation under his Royal Patronage which supported the publication of four stamp collections on the occasion of Her Royal Highnesses’ birthday, this is her 80th anniversary (1980), 90th anniversary (1990), 100th anniversary (2000) and 111th anniversary (2011).
