The souvenir sheet displays the ten daily actions promoted by the United Nations campaign Act Now, with the aim of encouraging the global citizens to make choices respecting the environment to face the climate challenge.
The ActNow campaign was launched at the UN Climate Change Conference (COP 24) in December 2018, with a call from Sir David Attenborough in conjunction with the award-winning “People’s Seat” initiative.
The campaign has been embraced by influencers on social media, by leading chefs sharing sustainable recipes and hacks, and by companies engaging their employees and customers. A special video and takeover by the Angry Birds gave ActNow additional momentum in the lead-up to the UN’s 2019 Climate Action Summit.
The sheet of 10 stamps in features 10 global actions that people can take in their daily lives to confront the climate crisis and help the planet:
Keep Showers Under 5 Minutes
Consume Meat-Free Meals
Purchase Local Produce
Turn Off Unused Lights
Unplug Unused Appliances
Refill and Reuse Drink Containers
Use Own Bags for Shopping
ACT NOW is the United Nations global call to individual action on climate change. The campaign is a critical part of the United Nations coordinated efforts to raise awareness, expand ambition and promote action for climate change and accelerate implementation of the Paris Agreement.
Primarily an online and social media campaign, ACT NOW educates and encourages individual actions, mainly by promoting the adjustment of consumption patterns. By changing our habits and routines and making choices that have less harmful effects on the environment, we have the power to confront the climate challenge.
Small changes can make a big difference if we all work together. Be a part of the movement. ACT NOW has invited people around the world to share their individual contributions to climate change. To find out more about the campaign and show your support visit www.un.org/en/actnow/. #ActNow
THE UN CAMPAIGN FOR INDIVIDUAL ACTION
Now is the time for change
COVID-19 has upended our lives. The way we work, the way we interact, the way we move about. This can be a turning point. Let’s seize the moment, and change course — toward more sustainable lifestyles.
ActNow is the United Nations campaign for individual action on climate change and sustainability. Every one of us can help limit global warming and take care of our planet. By changing our habits and making choices that have less harmful effects on the environment, we have the power to confront the climate challenge and build a more sustainable world.
COVID-19 IS A WAKE-UP CALL FROM NATURE. OUR LIVES DEPEND ON A HEALTHY PLANET. LET’S SEIZE THE MOMENT AND CHANGE COURSE – TOWARD MORE SUSTAINABLE LIFESTYLES.
Start with ten simple actions
We can all live sustainably and help build a better world for everyone. But this means taking a look at how we live and understanding how our lifestyle choices impact the world around us. We make hundreds of thousands of decisions during the course of our lives. The choices we make and the lifestyles we live have a profound impact on our planet.
The more people act, the bigger the impact. #ActNow.
