To combat the impoverishment of soils and rural communities, FAO has proclaimed 2020 an “International Year of Plant Health” (IYPH). The Vatican also wanted to join the initiative, in keeping with the teaching of Pope Francis, who in the “Laudato Si” disputes the fact that, in order to increase production, the future resources of the planet and the health of the environment are sacrificed (Cf. LS 195). For this occasion a stamp was made using a photo of Pope Francis’ trip to Armenia, in which we see the Holy Father who with the Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of all Armenians, Karekin II, spray a vine plant, a sign that the theme of the health of plants and the planet is an ecumenical value that is dear to all.
