“We, the peoples of the United Nations, are determined to save future generations from the scourge of war …” These are the beginnings of the preamble to the Charter of the United Nations (UN). Founded shortly after the end of the Second World War by 51 states, today 193 countries belong to the organization dedicated to the maintenance of international peace and security, the promotion of friendly relations between states and cooperation in the fields of human rights, development, economy and culture. On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the United Nations Organization (UN, also known as the United Nations), which has been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize several times, this special postage stamp appears.
Because the most pressing global challenges cannot be solved by individual countries, but only by the international community, the United Nations is of central importance as a forum for global political debates and as an instrument and actor in conflict resolution.
