The creation of the specific section “Plastic arts” of secondary education is based on the law of 04/13/1979. It takes into account the change that occurred mainly in the 1970s which gave an increasingly important and prestigious place to visual communication and to the role of creativity in general education. Section E was tested for the first time during the 1979-1980 school year at the Lycée des Garçons de Luxembourg. It is now an integral part of the Luxembourg school system and stands out for its versatility as well as for the integration of innovative working methods.
On the occasion of this anniversary, POST Philately offered young talents the opportunity to create a stamp. In collaboration with the teachers, a national competition was organized between the high schools, in which 24 students participated. The jury selected the illustrations proposed by Sarah Schümperli (1st, LMRL – 1st Prize), Linda Baustert (2nd, AL – 2nd Prize) and Lidia Pereira Mesquita (2nd, LGL – 3rd Prize).
