Tourist Destinations – Piriápolis

The stamps represented the Piria Castle and the Amphibious Chairs, used on the “accessible beaches” of Piriápolis.

Piriápolis, surrounded by hills, offers a spectacular panoramic view. First spa in Uruguay, designed in the best European style. It is a tourist city par excellence.

The Piria Castle was built as the personal residence of Francisco Piria, the work of the architect Aquiles Monzani. The architecture brings together a mix of Renaissance and medieval styles. Alchemical images and symbols can be seen in the castle. Since 1984 it has been a National Historic Monument.

Strategic Plan 2020

It is part of the necessary process of modernization and adaptation to the coming times.

Its goal is to make the 2020 tourist destination more competitive and sustainable, to contribute to the social well-being of the community. The future of Piriápolis depends on the effort and joint work of all. For this reason, the Plan is and should be an open, dynamic, continuous, attentive and sensitive process to the new challenges and trends that arise, as well as to the situation of the tourist markets at all times.

In short, this Strategic Plan 2020, supposes the beginning of a set of actions that the tourist administrations and the businessmen of the sector are going to have to develop focused on the new requirements of the current and future tourist, with a strong commitment to the environment, with the promotion of new technologies and the consideration of human talent as the main vector of competitiveness for the local tourism sector.
