The set of stamps honoring Philippines’ Frontline Heroes was initially teased with the video above in early May. The designs of the seven stamps to be released in a booklet pane of 14 were unveiled on 14 May but the decision was soon made to delay the release until following the initial lockdown period.
On Thursday, 9 July, the image below appeared on PHLPost’s Facebook page and other media outlets:
The first day of issue is 13 July 2020.
Please note that at the time of writing (Friday, 9 July), the stamps are unavailable for pre-order on the PHLPost website. In fact, there is no mention at all of the stamps. Posts on the administration’s Facebook page reveal that the stamps will initially be available at Manila area post offices only as well as through the Stamps On Wheels program. Collectors in the Philippines can have their stamps delivered using this service under the Stay at Home mandate. Eventually, the stamps should be available at least through online stamp dealers via outlets such as eBay.
A limited-edition souvenir sheet will accompany the booklet stamps.
A Nurses’ Prayer
Dear Lord, guide us in our chosen profession,
And help us to be skilled and compassionate caretakers.
As we minister to the sick, looking out for their well-being,
Let us tend to their physical, emotional and spiritual needs.
Help us to remember that our demeanor is at least as important as the medicines that we distribute.
When we enter the room, allow us to project an image of confidence and warmth,
So that our patients will feel at ease with us and trust in our judgment.
No matter how many times, we see fear in their eyes, or recognize that they are in pain,
Remind us that we should never become callous to their needs.
Gift us with strength Lord, everyday so that we will have the capacity
to give one-hundred Percent of ourselves, to all those who depend upon us for care.
And at the end of every day, we humbly ask you oh Lord,
To grant us a few quiet moments,
So that we may reflect upon the work that we have done, and
Prepare ourselves for the challenges that tomorrow will bring
