The first speaker to speak at Radio Andorra’s microphone was called Maria Escrihuela but she will never have the celebrity of Victoria Zorzano, who succeeded her and who became the real “” Mademoiselle Aqui “”. This former Spanish nun fled the civil war that bloodied her country and took refuge in Andorra. She was hired at Radio Andorra in 1939 and inaugurated the antenna by saying for the first time the words “” Aqui Radio Andorra “”. She will become a real myth for millions of Europeans fascinated by her melodious voice which will relieve them in these hours of suffering. cachet_VictoriaThe € 1.40 stamp “Victoria ZORZANO (1908-1998)”, issued on February 7, was intaglio printed on the TD 202 press in sheets of 20.
Its circulation is 60,000 copies. The dated corner is 14.11.19.

The stamp was designed and engraved by Sophie BEAUJARD, and laid out by Stéphanie GHINÉA from a photo by Arxiu Nacional d’Andorra / Jean-Gabriel SÉRUZIER (1905-1994).

NOTE:  Philandorre states the issue date as 7 February; La Poste, Colnect and StampWorld all list 8 February as the first day of issue; the illustrated postmark reads 7 March.
