It has been a rough week but I think most of the frustrations are behind me now. Yes, this site went down and there have been a number of issues in getting it up and running once again. For now, everything seems to be working EXCEPT manayy images are still not displaying correctly. I may have to go back and manually restore each one. Unfortunately, it will be another week before I have the free time.
I am currently working at a tiny temple school tucked into the hills near the beaches on the west coast of Phuket Island, Thailand. In order to arrive on time for the flag ceremony at 8:00 each morning, I need to wake up just after 5 a.m. and take a rickety wooden bus locally called a songteaw. The ride may take quite a while but it certainly is scenic. The school has less than 200 students; by contrast, the school I worked at last week has nearly 4,000! However, this assignment is temporary as I am substituting for a teacher who has suffered a death in his family.
It is this extra demand on my schedule (length of commute coupled with spotty internet at the school during my between-class breaks not to mention exhaustion once I arrive home) that will delay my being able to spend much time on site maintenance or New Issues announcements. In addition, our annual Phuket Old Town Festival begins tomorrow night and I usually participate in that each evening (until midnight or later).
I am really looking forward to my (only) day off on Monday — I will be up early that morning watching my Kansas City Chiefs football team play the San Francisco 49ers in the Super Bowl. Have I mentioned that many of my relatives hail from the San Francisco Bay area while my immediate relatives and high school/college friends reside in the KC area? I’m not torn as I have been a die-hard Chiefs fan for more than 40 years. I had planned on designing a Chiefs in the Super Bowl local post stamp this week rather than working on site restoration. C’est la vie…..
I will eventually get everything caught up and fixed. i hope.
